VERTICAL GARDEN

The balcony/marquise is part of a house from 1877, in the center of Porto. ​

 

The objective for the design of this space was to conceive a vertical garden with species characteristic of family houses in the port, making the marquee a cooler and more pleasant place to be. ​

 

The intervention process in the garden went through: 1st identify the environmental characteristics of the space; 2nd choose the appropriate species; 3rd choose the materials and the way of arrangement. ​

 

The plants used were Rosario (Senecio herreianus), Avenca (Adiantum raddianum), Flor-de-May (Schlumbergera truncata), Pimentel (Capsicum annuum), Fern (Nephrolepis exaltata), Sardenta (Hypoestes), Mini-Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum spp.), the Fortune Plant (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana), the Lantana (Lantana camara), the Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum wallisii), the Begonia (Begonia maculata), the Mini-rose (Rosa chinensis), Boa constrictors (Epipremnum aureum) and Calatea (Calathea roseopicta). ​

 

In this project, the design and execution of the vertical garden was carried out, as well as the execution and planting of all plant material.
